Evolution of Astrology: Historical Roots and Contemporary Relevance

Astrology, which is one of the oldest systems of knowledge, has undergone substantial development across civilizations while yet retaining its cultural and symbolic significance. The purpose of this study is to trace the historical history of astrology, beginning with its early origins in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt and progressing to its systematic formulation in Greek, Islamic, and Indian traditions, including its incorporation into the Vedas. The study illustrates how astrology adapted to different intellectual, religious, and cultural contexts by evaluating its alteration throughout time. This is accomplished by examining how it has changed over time. A more individualized system that focuses on individual horoscopes and character interpretation is the subject of this investigation, which investigates the evolution of astrology from a practice that included the observation of celestial bodies and was connected to agriculture and ceremonial time. A further aspect that is taken into consideration is the impact of scientific developments, notably those that occurred during the Enlightenment period. These advancements posed a challenge to the empirical validity of astrology and contributed to its downfall within academic discourse. Despite this, astrology continued to be influential in popular culture and in the belief systems of everyday people. Astrology has had a significant rebirth in the modern period, which can be attributed to the proliferation of digital media, the increased interconnection of the world, and the resurrection of interest in alternative frameworks of self-understanding. The manner in which contemporary astrology combines traditional ideas with current issues such as identity, mental health, and social belonging.
