Abstract

Art, media, and cultural discourse in the modern era have made trauma depiction in visual narratives a major research focus. Stories told visually can convey complex emotions and experiences that are hard to put into words, such as grief, loss, violence, displacement, memory, and psychological distress. visual storytelling as it pertains to trauma in contemporary art and media practices, and how these narratives shape cultural identity, communal memory, and emotional understanding. mediums that depict individual and group experiences of trauma, including but not limited to paintings, photographs, graphic novels, films, digital artworks, installation pieces, and so on. Visual storytellers and artists often employ symbolic imagery, distortion, silence, and visual metaphor to portray topics including war, genocide, migration, abuse, social injustice, environmental devastation, and psychological strife. By employing these creative methods, trauma can be conveyed in ways that are both culturally significant and emotionally impactful.
