Contemporary Algerian Novel and World Literature: Dimensions of Intertextuality and Human Values in the Novel "The Andalusian House" by Waciny Laredj

Abstract

World literature is considered a human heritage, as it brings peoples together by transcending time, place, and the language in which it was written to achieve universality. It addresses shared human issues; this is what has made it a focal point for novelists in the modern era, particularly with the emergence of experimentation and the opening of the narrative text to all literary arts. The narrative text, with its flexibility, has been able to emulate all texts and has proven to be a structure within which all literary genres merge without one infringing upon the artistic specificity of the other. It is capable of assimilation, development, and keeping pace with everything new.

The employment of world literature as a human characteristic came to extend bridges of cross-fertilisation that unify literature and make literatures melt into a single crucible, which is the literary text, within which all differences dissolve to produce a human creativity in a new guise that aligns with the changing circumstances of life, thus making it suitable for reading in every time and place.
