Abstract

The world's most pressing environmental crisis, climate change, will have far-reaching effects on outdoor athletics. The sustainability of sports infrastructure, the performance of athletes, and athletic events are all being negatively impacted by the rising frequency and severity of extreme weather events and other changing environmental circumstances. By analyzing the dangers and possible solutions, this research looks at how climate change will affect outdoor sports. Athletes are particularly vulnerable to heat exhaustion, dehydration, and impaired performance when temperatures rise and heatwaves occur. A number of natural phenomena, including air pollution, wildfires, and unpredictable rainfall, further degrade playing conditions, and shifts in weather patterns impact event scheduling and safety. Less snowfall and melting ice pose a serious danger to the sustainability of winter sports events held in their customary venues. impact on big athletic events like the Olympics, forcing organisers to reschedule, move, or invest in artificial solutions just to keep things the same. The increasing importance of long-term strategy in sports management is brought to light by these shifts.
