The Dialectic of Art and Truth in Friedrich Nietzsche’s Philosophy From Deconstructing Metaphysics to Establishing the Aesthetics of Life

Abstract

Nietzschean thought throughout history constitutes a distinctive approach that sets it apart from earlier philosophers. This stems from Nietzsche’s identification of structural gaps in the rational foundations of previous metaphysical systems, particularly those of Plato and Immanuel Kant, whom he ultimately judged to be proponents of nihilism. This study investigates the conceptual dialectic between art and truth in Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophy, examining how the traditional notion of truth as an autonomous, eternal entity was displaced to elevate metaphor and art as vital mechanisms for reinventing thought and affirming life. Employing philological and genealogical methods, this paper demonstrates how art transformed from a mere discrete aesthetic activity into a comprehensive ontological lens through which existence itself is comprehended.
