Artificial Intelligence in Teacher Education: Toward an Augmented Teaching Profession through Pedagogical Innovation, Ethical Requirements, and Competency Development
Keywords:
Augmented professionalism, Artificial intelligence, Ethics, Technopedagogical competencies, Reflective practice.Abstract
Generative artificial intelligence is transforming higher education, requiring the development of an augmented teaching professionalism. This concept integrates techno-pedagogical, informational, and ethical competencies in order to enhance human expertise rather than replace it. While current uses of AI remain largely instrumental, particularly in lesson planning and instructional preparation, the main challenge lies in achieving a critical and responsible integration of these technologies. Teacher training should therefore focus on strengthening professional judgment and reflective practice while addressing technical limitations such as algorithmic biases. The ultimate objective is to preserve human mediation as a central component of the educational act.
