The Phenomenon of Child Labor: A Sociological Study of Causes and Consequences

Abstract

Child labor represents a major global challenge that directly impacts childhood, as children engage in labor below the legal age, thereby depriving them of their fundamental rights to education and healthy development. Accordingly, this study aims to provide a descriptive overview of the reality of this phenomenon and uncover the primary drivers leading children into the labor market. It examines the economic, educational, and social factors surrounding the child, delineates the primary sectors of child employment globally and in Algeria, and highlights the multifaceted consequences of child labor.
